Hello Students:
There are 3 tasks lined up for you today. If you have already selected your movie line, then you can skip #3.
#1 - visit www.cnn.com/studentnews and listen to today’s news report. If you do not have your earbuds, then please read the transcript.
#2 - please go to the link listed below and read any animated television show or movie script in which you are interested:
http://www.imsdb.com/ <<<< You will spend most of your time on this site reading scripts and comparing them with your favorite movies and TV shows.
Choose a television show or movie you have seen within the last few weeks, and compare and contrast the script with the show/movie. Does the script read like the show/movie? How is it the same or different from the show/movie?
#3 - if you do not already have your movie line selected & memorized, please do redo this assignment:
Visit the links below, and select one movie line for you to memorize, rehearse, and present to the class. Additionally, you will need to know the following:
The answer to question #1 is required, and your answers
to questions #2 & #3 are optional, but recommended:
REQUIRED
1. The name of the actor & movie(s) containing your famous movie lines.
OPTIONAL
15.The name of the movie character who speaks your line in the movie, and
16.The context in the movie in which the line is spoken. Obviously, for this one, you either have to see the movie or do some online research about that scene in the movie.
You can find movie lines here:
Wikipedia’s Entry for Famous Movie Lines: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AFI's_100_Years...100_Movie_Quotes
Movie Quotes here: http://www.filmsite.org/greatfilmquotes.html
Top 10 Movie Quotes here: http://www.filmsite.org/topquotes.html
OPTIONAL
You get Super Bonus points if you choose lines from movies we have viewed in class.
Finally,
You have the opportunity to present your movie lines to the class. I have plans to film students presenting their lines and show the film at the Falcon Media Festival. And...of course, you will be expected to present your lines with respect to how the writer intended the actor to convey the meaning of the words within your lines. Thus, you cannot simply memorize the lines and present them without feeling, emotion or any sense of the context in which they were delivered by the actor during the filming of the movie. This means that you will have to understand the meaning of those lines and what those words were intended to do and mean within the film.
March 29
Remember, we will have a speaker on Thursday. Be on your best behavior.
First, visit www.cnn.com/studentnews and listen to today’s news report. If you do not have your earphones, then please read the transcript.
