Science Fiction Writing Minimum Requirements for a Grade of B (80-89)
You must complete all the requirements for a C and the following requirements:
Read a science fiction best seller from the list posted in the classroom and available online here: http://bit.ly/bestsciencefiction You are invited to visit our school library, a public library, a local bookstore (like Half-Priced Books or Bookpeople) or order from Amazon.com. I will have at least one GN available for after school reading (on Mondays & Tuesdays) for students who cannot get one from the libraries or the stores. Note: you cannot take home my graphic novels. You must come in only on Mondays or Tuesdays after school to read.
Be prepared for an oral and/or written exam about your science fiction best seller on the last Monday & Tuesday of the grading period.

a 500 word essay with evidence of all the steps in the writing process
2 Annotated Literary Artifacts regarding a critical point about science fiction writing
2 Successfully completed Group Projects
2 successfully completed Monday computer lab assignments
Pass 2 out of 3 vocabulary exams. Remember, you are responsible for the CNN vocabulary and the specific words that Mr. Harris repeatedly discusses in class and those key words posted on the walls in the classroom.

Graphic Novels Minimum Requirements for a Grade of A (90-100)

--A short comic that explains a scientific or mathematical concept
Graphic Novels Minimum Requirements for a Grade of B (80-89)
You must complete all the requirements for a C and the following requirements:
--Read a graphic novel from the Graphic Novel best seller list posted in the classroom and available online here: http://bit.ly/bestgraphicnovels You are invited to visit our school library, a public library, a local bookstore (like Half-Priced Books or Bookpeople) or order from Amazon.com. BUILDING WORD POWER
Building Word Power Minimum Requirements for a Grade of A (90-100)
Everything for B & C and the following:
--Multiple Intelligences Product that is related to words/language
Building Word Power Minimum Requirements for a Grade of B (80-89)
You must complete all the requirements for a C and the following requirements:
--Complete 50 Vocabulary Notecards each Six Weeks. 10 words each from Math, Science, History, and Language Arts, and 10 words from an elective or subject of your choice.
Building Word Power Project Requirements for a Grade of C (70-79):
--Daily Note pages completed and organized in binder each week
--12 Fulmore Words of Week & Idiom Vocabulary Cards completed and in binder
--Syllabus Assignments 1-3 turned in
--Parent Comment Page returned
--1 Word project completed each Six Weeks
--Two annotated Literary Artifacts regarding a critical point about vocabulary
--Two successfully completed Group Projects
--Two successfully completed Monday computer lab assignments

Video Production
Video Production Grade of A (90-100)
Everything for B & C and the following:
-A detailed analysis of 1 CNN news show and one documentary of your choice. Click here for free documentaries online. Analyze with respect to the "production" components (camera angles, lighting, narration, editing, graphics, music, etc.) and how those components help to contribute to the success (or failure) of the production.
Video Production Grade of B (80-89)
To earn a B in the class, you must complete all the requirements for a C and the following:
--Create 3 short movies (using Animoto or OneTrueMedia) regarding the following topics: Fulmore School Spirit, a science concept of your choice, and a historical event or person.
--Read a book about some issue or aspect of video production. The book must be approved by me. You can check out books from our Fulmore library or the public library.
--Complete a review page for your book.
Video Production Grade of C (70-79)
To earn a C in this class, you must adequately complete the following:
--Daily Note Pages completed and turned in each week and organized in binder
--Fulmore Words of Week Vocabulary Cards completed each week
--Syllabus Assignments 1-3
--Parent Comment Page
--Two Annotated Literary Artifacts regarding a critical point about video production
--Two Successfully completed Group Projects such as the Fulmore Words of the Week video
--Pass 2 out of 3 vocabulary exams. Remember, you are responsible for the CNN vocabulary and the specific words that Mr. Harris repeatedly discusses in class and those key words posted on the walls in the classroom.
